Decks, Porches, and Rails in Fort Mill and Charlotte
Outdoor structures fail from the ground up. Posts sit in wet soil, ledger boards hold water against the house, and rail connections loosen a little every season. We repair what can be saved, rebuild what cannot, and build new decks and porches from scratch.

What We Handle:
- Deck builds and full replacements — pressure-treated, composite, and vinyl
- Porch rebuilds, additions, and screened-in porches
- Rail and stair replacement
- Rot repair to decking boards, joists, posts, and ledgers
- Storm damage repair after a tree or limb comes down
Storm Damage Is a Lot of This Work
A limb through a rail or a tree across a deck is one of the most common calls we get after a bad storm, and it is usually part of a covered claim. We document the damage, handle the storm damage repair, and rebuild the structure properly rather than patching around the break.
Signs Yours Needs Work
- Decking boards that are cracked, cupped, or spongy underfoot
- Rails that move when you lean on them
- Soft or discolored wood where the deck meets the house
- Rusted, backed-out, or missing fasteners and connectors
- Posts that have sunk, shifted, or rotted at the base
Any one of these is worth looking at now. Rot spreads toward the structure, and a rail that gives way is the failure that actually hurts somebody.
Built by the Crew That Does the Rebuild
Outdoor work runs on the same framing and finish carpentry as everything else we build, and it is often one line item on a larger reconstruction project rather than a job on its own. Same crew, same standards, whichever way it comes to us.

Deck and Porch Questions
Plain answers about scope, materials, and how the work gets done.
-
Can my deck be repaired, or does it need replacing?
It depends on where the rot is. Surface boards and rails are a repair. Once the joists, posts, or the ledger board against the house have gone soft, the structure is what failed and a rebuild is the honest answer. -
A tree came down on my deck — is that covered?
Storm damage to a deck or porch is usually handled under the same homeowners policy as the house, though coverage is your carrier's call. We document the damage, write the estimate, and handle the storm damage repair and the rebuild together. -
Do you build with composite as well as wood?
Yes — pressure-treated lumber, composite, and vinyl. Composite costs more up front and asks less of you afterward; pressure-treated is cheaper to build and needs sealing on a schedule. -
Do you replace just the railings?
Yes, and it is one of the more common jobs we take. Rails loosen at the post connections long before the deck itself is worn out, and a rail that moves when you lean on it is the failure that actually hurts somebody. -
How long does a deck rebuild take?
A rail or stair replacement is usually a day or two. A full deck or porch rebuild runs longer depending on size, footings, and material lead times — we give you the schedule with the written estimate.
